The Ninth Month

The LAST month! You know, I just don't have anything else to say - just ... wow! So without further ado:

36 Weeks: Romaine Lettuce

(baby weighs nearly 6 pounds and measures over 18.5 inches long)

We are officially in the home stretch! I guess baby's length is supposedly about the same as a head of romaine lettuce? I don't know, this was another weird one for me.

And don't judge my Walmart special tshirt, there. Very little fits even reasonably comfortably any more. Baby HATES waistbands.

Developments of note this week include the shedding of downy hair and vernix, which should definitely lead to a less alien look, right? They don't mention it this time, surprisingly.

36 Weeks: Romaine Lettuce

37 Weeks: Yellow Honeydew

(baby MAY weigh 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches long)

Yeah, yeah, another melon. I don't think there are many fruits or veggies left that AREN'T melons that are big enough... O.O This was supposed to be either a winter melon or swiss chard, neither of which I could find. I didn't look that hard, though, in all honesty. I mean, swiss chard?? But I found this pretty bright yellow melon and it was almost the right weight so I decided to go with it. So here you go! I'm skeptical if there's enough room for all that baby in there, but I guess we'll find out soon enough! :)

37 Weeks: Yellow Honeydew

38 Weeks: Leeks

(baby weighs around 6.8 pounds and is over 19.5 inches long, supposedly)

Well, we made it to the new year! And this is the month, y'all!! This month we get to meet our baby! I was hoping for a pumpkin for this week, but it doesn't appear to be pumpkin season. So leeks = length? Ish. This week we have matured organs that are ready for life outside the womb (yay!) and a firm grasp which we will soon get to feel when we get to hold baby's hand for the first time! So exciting!!

38 Weeks: Leeks

39/40 Weeks: It's a Boy!

(born January 7th, 8:17 am, 7 lbs 2 oz, 20.5" long)

Baby C was born the morning of my 39th week and he's a week old in the picture below. <3 So needless to say, I've been a bit distracted recently! We've had some ups and downs, but we're all three healthy and happy, even if a bit sleep deprived. DH was able to take some time off and he's been a tremendous help, from birthing day to midnight diaper changes. It's been quite the experience so far. I'll have to tell you more about it soon!

35 Weeks: Honeydew Melon

For now, though, please bear with me through my absence as we learn one another. I've managed to crochet all of once in the past two and a half weeks and that was only just last night! I'll hop on here and there to share a few things, but until we find our new rhythm, I'll probably be a bit scarce. I hope you'll stick around, though, because baby boy is only going to give me new inspiration for my creativity!
