Yarn Mail Unboxing: Indie Untangled Heritage Wool Collective [Ebb Tide]

It's time for the second unboxing from the Heritage Wool Collective!

Well. It's actually the third installment, but I missed the first one, unfortunately, so this is only my second box.

Anyway! Let's take a look, shall we?

Soft aqua greenish-blue, cream, and brown hand-dyed yarn called Ebb Tide from Moondrake Co for the Heritage Wool Collective

And there she is, fresh out of the box!

The yarn is a 60/40 blend of Merino wool (US sourced) and Romney wool from New York State, milled by Battenkill Fibers into a 2-ply fingering weight that should be great for both garments and accessories.

It was hand-dyed by Rachelle of Moondrake Co and at the time of this writing there are some extra skeins available over on Indie Untangled. Grab yourself one or two before they're gone!

I'm particularly intrigued by the idea of trying some planned color pooling with Ebb Tide because it appears to have been hand painted, resulting in some beautiful solid lengths of color all the way across the entire hank.

An open hank of hand dyed yarn hanging from a large tree trunk and showcasing the large segments of brown, cream, and soft aqua colors.

Maybe I'll try stacking them? It would make a fairly narrow width, like a scarf, so I'm glad I got the third skein of yarn in Spruce to pair with the two mulit-colored skeins. That'll give me more yardage to play with to make a nice sized shawl.

Will it stay rectangular? Mmm.... maybe! I don't know yet. I'll have to do some swatching.

Here's a close-up view of Spruce.

I just love this shade of green! Just a little bit blue, a little bit earthy, rich and warm. Perfection!

It should make a nice complement to Ebb Tide.

Two skeins of yarn side by side in a box, one a solid spruce green color, the other a hand-painted skein of seafoam blue, brown, and cream.

What do you think? What would you make with a couple of these lovely skeins of yarn??

(Actually, this might be fun to try with my Chroma Story Scarf pattern!)

Oh and you can get Spruce (that lovely dark bluish-green I added on) as well as two other solid colorways, also dyed by Rachelle, a la carte over on Indie Untangled's website.

There's a soft silver called Ash as well as a punchy orange called Rust if you'd like to add some POW to your project with a contrasting color!

If you'd like to see this beautiful yarn in action, be sure to check out the unboxing video:

Take a look at the subscription box from Indie Untangled for the Heritage Wool Collective if you'd like to join me on this little adventure exploring breed specific wools and indie yarn dyers!

Oh and if you'd like to make the shawl I'm wearing using yarn from the previous box, you can check it out as a pattern preview over on Patreon! You can join me for as little as $2 a month and you'll get access to the written instructions for this design as well as several other as yet unpublished crochet patterns.

Cheers!
